For many people living with multiple sclerosis, Janice Dean has been more than a television personality—she has been a visible reminder that life and career can continue after an MS diagnosis.

After 22 years with Fox News, Dean announced she is stepping away from her role because the physical demands of waking at 2:30 every morning and years of stress have become too much as her MS has progressed. She shared that her doctors agreed it was time to prioritize her health.

Her story is one that many in the MS community understand. MS isn’t always a dramatic overnight change. Sometimes it’s the slow realization that your body simply can’t do what it once could, even when your mind and determination remain just as strong.

As someone living with MS myself, I understand that struggle.

Knowing when to make a change isn’t giving up. Sometimes it’s the smartest and strongest decision you can make for your long-term health.
